At CES Samsung previewed high quality transparent screens; this clip shows one plausible use case: boxes at sporting arenas. Not affordable yet; $200K for a screen too small for a decent sized private box. Easy to imagine applications in retail, where you want to preserve line of sight to merchandise.

Shame they didn’t write a ‘Thanks for Coming’ in 2005, when IBM bowed out. In 1981, when the ad ran, total worldwide sales were 1.5 million units. The sales projection in the ad for 1982 was accurate. They were a bit out on the market potential. Total sales now 290 million.
